Mysterium Duo & Vaughan String Quartet

Sir N. Antonio Peruch is a distinguished award-winning international classical accordion artist, concerto soloist, chamber musician, recording artist, lecturer, researcher, composer, and arranger. Peruch has been knighted by the Republic of Italy for his contributions to Italian music and culture. He has performed before enthusiastic audiences in Canada, the USA, Italy, Mexico, and Cuba. He currently teaches classical accordion at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels at the University of Calgary’s School of Creative and Performing Arts in Canada.

Penny Sanborn holds a Master of Music degree in Performance on accordion from the University of Calgary. She has been privileged to perform with world renowned artists Luciano Pavarotti, Itzhak Perlman, and Renée Fleming, and with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. Her projects have been funded by the Canada Council for the Arts, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. She has performed in Canada, Dubai and Europe.

Celebrated by critics for their "youthful energy, seasoned experience, invigorating playing and soulful interpretations" the Vaughan String Quartet stands as a prominent chamber group in Canada. The group has collaborated with institutions such as the Banff Centre for Performing Arts, Edmonton Recital Society, Edmonton Opera, New Music Edmonton, the Western Canadian Music Awards, PAMAR in New York, CMK, the St. Albert Chamber Music Recital Series. Since 2013, the quartet members have been curators of concerts, drawing musicians from different corners of Canada and beyond. Their unwavering commitment to the arts has earned them numerous grants and accolades, including the Edmonton Arts Council’s Cultural Diversity Award in 2017, which culminated in the release of their debut album "Mosaico" through the Azul Music Label. The quartet participated in the 2015 Toronto Luminato Festival and in the performance Murray Schafer's “Apocalypsis”, a live recording by CBC which resulted in a CD release by Analekta in 2016.
