Pianist Mikolaj Warszynski will perform a program featuring Nocturnes, Etudes, Waltzes, Mazurkas and the celebrated Piano Sonata No. 3. Guest pianist Zuzana Simurdova will also perform Nocturnes and Mazurkas.


This free event, The New Horizons for Seniors is a federally funded program that brings arts and music to the community. As part of this program, The Mazurka Music and Art Society presents a series of concerts dedicated to Seniors across the province of Alberta, extending musical concerts and artistic events to those who otherwise would not be able to experience them.

Meet the Musicians

Mikolaj Warszynski

Mikolaj Warszynski is an internationally acclaimed Canadian pianist of Polish heritage who has performed across North America, Europe, and Asia. Holding a doctorate in music from the University of Montreal, he has appeared with numerous orchestras and at prestigious concert venues worldwide. He is the Artistic Director of the Mazurka Music and Art Society of Alberta and co-founder of Edmonton’s Chopin Piano Studio.

Zuzana Šimurdová

Zuzana Šimurdová is an award-winning Czech-Canadian pianist who has performed internationally across Europe, Asia, and North America. A recipient of the UNESCO Award for her interpretation of Chopin and winner of the Chopin Award at the IBLA Grand Prize International Competition, she made her Carnegie Hall debut and has performed with numerous orchestras. Based in Edmonton, she is co-director of the Chopin Piano Studio and an accomplished recording artist.
