Libby was born in the UK and raised in Calgary after her family made the leap across the pond in pursuit of the great outdoors. Growing up hiking, skiing, camping, and backcountry canoeing, she developed a deep appreciation for nature that naturally found its way into her creative practice. Some of Libby’s earliest memories are of sitting at campgrounds with a children’s watercolour palette and sketchbook in hand.
As an adult, Libby continued to pursue her passion for art, earning a Certificate in Natural History Illustration from the University of Newcastle, Australia, and developing a professional practice focused primarily on watercolour illustration. Alongside her own artistic work, she is passionate about teaching and sharing creativity with others. Libby has worked as a contracted Artist Educator with organizations including the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Parks Canada, Rocky View Schools, and artsPlace. You may even recognize her from summer camps and community classes!
Libby was a member of the artsPlace team from 2020–2023, serving as Programs Assistant and Evening Operations Coordinator. Libby greatly enjoyed being in the hustle and bustle of events and engaging with the community. Since then, she has enjoyed a varied career spanning environmental education, administration, and marketing.
Now back at artsPlace as Programs, Events, and Operations Coordinator, Libby is thrilled to return to what she considers her home away from home. She is excited to foster meaningful community connections, support engaging and uplifting programming, and help create welcoming opportunities for artists, learners, and arts lovers alike. Passionate about the power of creativity to bring people together, she looks forward to collaborating with local artists, organizations, and participants to cultivate inspiring experiences and strengthen the vibrant arts community that makes artsPlace so special.
